Aloha and Welcome

Hawaii Behavioral Health (HBH) is Hawaii’s largest provider of community-based paraprofessional social, behavioral health and educational services.  HBH was created in 1993 to provide a statewide system of integrated services to improve the educational, health, and safety outcomes for Hawaii’s youth and families through innovative, community based, culturally competent and empirically supported programs.  HBH is a leader in developing, training and managing community-based health care workers.  HBH has provided over 2.75 million hours of community-based services to children and families throughout the state.

HBH is proud to serve Hawaii’s families on all islands through contracts with a variety of state agencies including the Hawaii Departments of Health, Education and Human Services.  HBH is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and is licensed as a Child Placing Organization by the Hawaii Department of Human Services.

HBH is well known for its flexible, culturally-informed and individualized programming.  All agency programs are family-centered, culturally competent and community oriented.  The philosophy, approach and structure of all HBH programs are based upon Hawaii Child and Adolescent Special Services Program (CASSP) principles and empirically proven best practice approaches to service delivery.
